A nerdy grad student at CERN made up a rap about the Large Hadron Collider and what it's for. Notably absent from the lyrics is how they're going to cause the end of the universe.

RIP E. Gary Gygax

E. Gary Gygax, creator of Dungeons and Dragons failed to make a saving throw versus death today and passed away at 69 years of age. Nerds everywhere are in mourning. I myself have whiled many a happy hour fighting drow, giants, slavers, demons, etc. I hope you are in a happier place now Gary. You will be missed. [article]

BSG: The Razor

Noelle and I caught a sneak preview of the Battlestar Galactica movie: The Razor at the Cinearts in Santana Row. It was really great seeing BSG 30 feet high on the big screen, the occasional Microsoft ad notwithstanding. The SJ nerds seem to have better hygiene than the Comic-con nerds, too. Anyway, the movie was great, providing a lot of backstory on the Pegasus and what happened between the time they took control of the Pegasus and landed on New Caprica. And there were some great bits for old school Battlestar fans, too. ;-)

Going to Comic-Con in San Diego tomorrow, er, today. Strangely, I appear to be pretty much packed and ready to go and it's not even 4am. Huh. Anyway, I hope to have more news later of the great nerd out of 2007.
