Die Hardererer

Noelle and I caught the late show of the latest Die Hard movie tonight. It was actually surprisingly good, a bit of technical gobedlygook notwithstanding. McClane is fighting a bunch of nerdy information terrorists who are trying to shut down the country with computers and bullets. The story was decent and the stunts were frickin' amazing! My understanding is that most of them are practical stunts/effects, which is even more amazing. The stunts reminded me of kung foo movies or the latest James Bond movie. Highly recommend this one if you want a solid action movie.

I Wonder How They Found Him

(click for linky goodness at The Smoking Gun)

Curtis Allgier, a convicted felon and Aryan Brotherhood member beat the crap out of his parole officer and fled into Salt Lake City. After his photo was broadcast on local tv, the police received a number of leads. This week he allegedly murdered a corrections officer and escaped, leading the police on a high speed chase before it ended at Arby's. Some kind soul on Fark had the Arby's hat over the mugshot. He's thinkin' Arby's.

To iPhone or Not to iPhone?

Apple/AT&T released rate plans for the iPhone that's coming out on Friday. I need a new phone (Cingular is dismantling the TDMA network, grrrr) and it looks pretty snazzy. The data plan is actually reasonable too. So, I'll probably be in line on Friday. Apple also has a little promo movie showing how you activate the iPhone using iTunes.

Sore, Tired, But Mostly Happy

I have a very poor idea of where the weekend went. I guess chores mostly. There are was a lot of running around picking stuff up (or dropping stuff off). Got a fair amount of patio furniture at Target (Warning: these cushions do not conform to California fire safety codes!). Unlike MC Pee Pants , I did not buy them on credit. ;-) Got up waayyyy to early on Sunday to go over to Santa Teresa High School to pull weeds for a community impact project Jon's church was doing. I'm not sure Noelle and I really recovered from that. (Getting up early, I mean.) Swimming at Jon's pool afterwards was great (sunburn was not)! Anyway, the weekend is over. Now back to work.

Quick Update

I haven't blogged in a while, a lot of stuff has been going on. Went to St. Maarten at the end of April. Beautiful beaches. The island was pretty nice. Diving was fantastic (very warm water, lots to see). I got certified again while I was there. They have some great restaurants on the French side. Traffic sucked. About halfway through the trip we got a call from home that Noelle's apartment had had a fire. A lot of her things were destroyed, but the worst thing is that her three kitties died. Needless to say that put a damper on the whole trip. I was very upset and Noelle was inconsolable. Our friends were great though, they did a lot of cleaning before we got back and helped with the moving afterwards to make that experience relatively painless. We had planned to move Noelle in by the end of May anyway, this just accelerated plans. What stuff that survived the fire has been moved to my place and Noelle and I are now cohabitating. There's still a fair amount of things to do to finish with the unpacking, but most of the rooms in the house look decent.

Noelle and I took a weekend trip to Monterey/Carmel and that was pretty fun. We stayed in an Alice In Wonderland themed B&B. Went down to San Simeon for a day trip to see Hearst Castle. Went to a couple of concerts, most notably The Police last week. Very strong showing by the boys.

Anyway, I'll probably get back to blogging now that things seem a little less crazy.
