A Sickness Has Come Over Me

Gui-tar fever, that is. I imagine this is probably quite tedious, but it's really weird how putting on an axe and watching Tom Kolb on the TV fuels my desire to learn more. Just the basics, I've seen, but I've so much to learn. Mmmm... minor chords. Power chords! Palm muting! Pentatonic scale! In the words of Mark Mothersbaugh, "How long can this go on?"

I keep the power cords in a box in the closet so Aki doesn't electrocute himself.

Anyhoo.... something tells me I would never get this excited over, like, keyboard....

Power chords are cool because you use the same finger position to get a bunch of different chords. Power chord + palm muting (laying your palm lightly on the bridge) + a little distortion and SHAZAM very grungy! You can play A, Bflat, B, C, all with the same shape. (A power chords)

You might get excited with keyboards if you had a Hammond B3 or something like that. ;-) Maybe not, dunno.

No, no... I sat at the piano at Sera's house clunking out Für Elise, couldn't coordinate the left hand with the right at any reasonable speed, and was reminded of all those hours spent practicing piano pieces for recitals... *shudder* ...no, if I want to spend time on an artistic hobby, I should just pull out my pencils and get back to sketchwork. Sadly, though, I'm not feeling inspired lately. :-\
