Private Space Flight Just Around the Corner

Burt Rutan, the guy who first flew nonstop around the world in one go back in 1982 is currently working on making commercial space flight a reality. He's teamed up with Paul Allen (yeah, that Paul Allen) to form Scaled Composites, a company to build prototype spacecraft for suborbital flights. One of their prototypes, Spaceship One is set to fly today, perhaps in the first commercial manned space flight, over the Mojave Desert.

Looks kinda like the ship Steve Austin flew in the Six Million Dollar Man. Hopefully this one will work better for the test pilot than it did for Steve.
