Oh Yes! It's Scouring Time, Baby!
So if E Online is to be believed, the new super extended version of The Return of the King (250 mintues, 4 hours and 10 minutes!) will feature missing footage including The Scouring of the Shire and Aragorn's confrontation with The Mouth of Sauron at the Black Gate. The utter lack of the Scouring of the Shire was my greatest disappointment with the entire series. I remember watching the journey home thinking, "Hee hee, those who haven't read the books are being lulled into a sense of complacency, here comes the wham!" but of course the wham! never came. So if it is indeed in the extended version, I will be a happy camper.

Thta's funny, the people who came to comic con 2 years ago, including all of the hobits, and most of the Weta people, said that the scowering of the shire scenes were actually never filmed... I guess they could have done it in pick ups, but I have also heard from Peter Jackson that they didn't film them. We'll see....
Well, if you go here you can see the trailer for the special edition which has some unreleased footage. Saruman is at least featured in this version. Whether or not the Scouring of the Shire is in it remains to be seen.
